Manchester United have been suffered a jolt as according to reports as Victor Lindelof is set to sign a new contract with Benfica.
United had met with his representatives a few days ago as they were trying to seal the deal as soon as possible. Jose Mourinho identified him as the possible replacement of Eric Bailly who will be unavailable for a brief period due to his national commitments.
Should United still manage to sign him he will get a hefty pay rise to his current wage of £3,500 a week and will pocket £58,000 per week.
United were ready to pay his £38m release clause earlier but the Portuguese club are now trying to convince him to sign a new contract so that they would ask the English club for a much higher fee in the range of £50m.
Lindelof will wear the number 2 shirt vacated by Rafael if he comes to United. The Red Devils are also trying to sign right back Nelson Semedo.
