Premier League is getting ready for a massive game on Monday when Everton will host Liverpool. Although Everton haven’t been in the best of form lately, their last win over Arsenal gives them a huge boost to take on the Reds. The game promises to have everything; pace, physicality, fierceness, and it will bring together some of the most exciting players in the league.
Manager- Jürgen Klopp
What we saw in glimpses last season is emerging this year. Liverpool have adopted Klopp’s gegenpressing tactics quite effectively and the Reds are a force to reckon with this season. Ronaldo Koeman hasn’t been able to bring around a big change as the team has struggled after a bright start.
Left back- Leighton Baines
The seasoned defender has been a rare spark in Everton’s lacklustre defence. Everton’s defence looks much more balanced after he returned from injury. His brilliant set-pieces give Everton an edge from set pieces.
Centre back-Ashley Williams
Although he hasn’t had a great season so far for Everton, his performance against Arsenal will surely give him a huge boost ahead of the crucial game.
Centre back- Matip
Undoubtedly, the only good thing about Liverpool’s faltering defence. His intercepting and game reading abilities is a big asset for Liverpool.
Right back- Seamus Coleman
He has been brilliant at times for Everton. The right wing back is equally good going forward as he has been at the back. His equaliser against Arsenal showed how much he wants to make a difference.
Central Midfielder- Idrissa Gueye
He has been the main reason Everton have escaped with a point from many tough fixtures this season. He’s a rock in the midfield with great athleticism and intercepting abilities and has the drive to break forward as well.
Central Midfielder- Jordan Henderson
The England midfielder has been the engine for the Reds. With the likes of Coutinho, Firmino, Lallana and Mane going all guns blazing, Klopp’s reliance on Henderson is huge and he has perfectly lived up to the expectation, providing the balance to the team.
Left Wing- Adam Lallana
It was long prophesied, his big season. Although injuries have shortened his appearances this season, he has shown his class for Liverpool so far. He is expected to fire once again in the Merseyside derby.
Central Attacking Midfielder- Ross Barkley
Although he has seen some bench time after some lacklustre performances, Koeman has recently shown faith in him. And he repaid it brilliantly against Arsenal. After some miss-passes initially, the promising England midfielder looked dangerous and often threatened the Gunners’ defence.
Right-wing-Sadio Mane
The newest recruit has been brilliant this season. Seven goals and five assists so far, when Mane runs up the right flank, he is unstoppable. Liverpool will dearly miss him coming January as he’ll leave for the AFCON.
Centre-forward- Origi
He is a surprise pick ahead of the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Firmino. But, when you have scored five goals in your last five matches, there’s a pretty big chance you will hit the net once again.
