Romelu Lukaku’s agent Mino Raiola has issued a warning that despite a new contract there is no certainty over his future.
Lukaku is poised to sign a new contract that will make him the highest-paid player with a wage in excess of £100,000. The Belgian has been a long-term target for Chelsea and has been in good form as he has bagged nine goals in this season.
Lukaku joined the Toffees from Chelsea for a club-record £28million in 2014 and has scored 70 goals in 144 appearances. The Belgium striker’s current contract expires in 2019, but his agent Mino Raiola has been in negotiations with the Toffees officials for the last couple of months.
Raiola who was also behind the most hyped transfer of Paul Pogba said, “If Romelu is good enough, strong enough, to move in the next year then we will talk to Everton about it
“It’s a very good relationship at the moment. We know what both parties want.
“In football, you can’t look too much in front. You need to take it one transfer window at a time.
“For now, we are agreeing terms and then we will see in the summer what happens and how the situation is.
“If there is an interest from both parties to move on, then we will talk with the club, but at this point we only have one objective and that is to perform as well as possible for Everton.”
