Chelsea are reportedly planning to launch a bid for Atletico Madrid keeper Jan Oblak in a bid to replace Thibaut Courtois.
Courtois has been linked with Real Madrid and Chelsea are expected to receive a bid in the summer. The Spanish side’s transfer ban has been reduced recently by the Court Of Arbitration for Sports and that means they are free to sign any player at the end of this season.
Oblak has established himself as one of the best shot-stoppers across Europe. The Slovenian international is only 23 years of age and is a hugely promising prospect.
He reportedly has a €100 million release clause in his current contract which runs until June 2021. Oblak won’t come cheap and Chelsea have to shell a huge amount of money to secure his service.
Oblak was signed after Courtois’s loan spell with Atletico ended and the English outfit Chelsea recalled their keeper. The Blues are also keeping tabs on Joes Hart, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Yann Sommer if they fail to sign Oblak.
