Gary Neville has issued a warning to Liverpool that the Reds can’t afford to lose this chance to win the Premier League as they might not have another chance.
The Reds are currently in second place and leapfrogged Manchester City after their win over Everton. Liverpool came close to conquering the title in 2014 but a couple of dismal performances ended their chances.
This year, they have started well but an unexpected defeat at the hands of Bournemouth and a draw with West Ham United has put them six points behind Chelsea who are on a hot streak at the moment. Although they have recovered well by defeating Middlesbrough and Everton, they need to bring more consistency to their game if they hope to lift the title in Klopp’s first full season in charge.
Neville, who spent his entire playing career at Manchester United, said that Liverpool need to tighten up their defence, “This season, they may never have a better chance (of winning the league). Liverpool are a damn good side under Jurgen Klopp, fantastic to watch.
“They’re a good side who can go and beat anybody but they have this one huge failing and it cost them a league title three years ago… their record defensively is poor.
“Those players have to seize this moment now. If they can pull together a defence like Leicester did last season they’ve got an opportunity to win the league.”
