In form Stoke City were beaten at the Emirates by Arsenal again as the Potters couldn’t change their dismal record at the home ground of Arsenal. Stoke gave a good account of themselves in the match and took an early lead before the hosts fought back to score their share of goals to kill the game eventually. Let’s take a look at how the Stoke City players did in the game out of 10.
Grant (5/10)
Conceded three goals but saved a couple also. Tough day for him at the office.
Johnson (5/10)
Did decently on the right-hand flank as a fullback but failed to cover the spaces he left behind. The hosts punished them as a result, exploiting the open space.
Muniesa (5/10)
Did well in the first half but struggled in the second with the hosts attacking more but the defender received less support.
Martins Indi (5.5/10)
Did decently with his clearances and made some vital interceptions as well. Was troubled by Sanchez a bit as he took him away from his position.
Pieters (4/10)
Was left exposed far too often after Bellerin came on the pitch. Was overloaded almost every time Arsenal went forward.
Allen (6.5/10)
Made his usual dangerous runs into the forward areas which were hard to track but wasn’t good in his shots. Won the penalty for his side though. Did play well in his midfield role.
Imbula (4/10)
Played poorly and couldn’t offer any defensive protection to his backline. Was the one who played Ozil onside for the second goal of Arsenal.
Shaqiri (6/10)
Looked like a threat at times with his runs and delivered some good crosses into the box. Drifted in and out of the game, however.
Adam (6.5/10)
Was good in his distribution from the midfield. Played love nice long passes. Scored the goal from the spot to give his team the lead in the first half.
Arnautovic (6/10)
Gave the Arsenal defence some problems with his excellent off the ball runs and performed well on the break but lacked support.
Diouf (4.5/10)
Played as a wingback but remained ineffective throughout. Worked hard defensively but offensively was pretty poor.
Subs
Crouch (5.5/10)
Came on the pitch and immediately worked the goalkeeper with a fine header but couldn’t do anything more since.
Ngoy (N/A)
Sobhi (N/A)
