Rangers did really well to try inflicting a big damage to their arch rivals Celtic on the New Year’s Eve but Celtic’s quality proved to be too much for the Gers. Warburton’s side had the perfect opportunity to spoil Celtic’s party ahead of the winter break and they started the game really well taking the lead in just 12 minutes but could not keep away Celtic from coming back from behind and win the game.
With this win, Celtic are now 19 points clear of Rangers and look to be cruising on to the title. The title race had very little left in it and this Celtic win takes away the little amount competition that was there. At the same time, the green half of Glasgow gets the bragging rights with the win in the famous Old Firm Derby. This was the third time when Celtic and Rangers locked horns this season and Rangers fans will be gutted to lose all three times.
Kenny Miller gave Rangers a very early lead but Celtic equalised through Moussa Dembele who bagged his fifth goals against Rangers in three games. Scott Sinclair scored the winner in the 70th minutes. Here are the Rangers player ratings from the game.
Wes Foderingham: 7.5/10
Could have done very little for both goals. Made a few stunning saves from Scott Sinclair, James Forrest, Stuart Armstrong twice and Nir Bitton.
Rob Kiernan: 6/10
Did not do much wrong but did not look confident enough.
Danny Wilson: 6.5/10
Came close to scoring with a header but it was well-matched by Gordon. Defender really well.
Clint Hill: 5.5/10
Made a few errors at the back. Was brilliant in the air, though.
James Tavernier: 7/10
Was excellent with his deliveries and set up Miller for the opener. Needed to be better defensively.
