Jose Mourinho finally had his way at Old Trafford after a long wait of two months, when Manchester United saw off a hot on heels Tottenham in a high-octane encounter today. Mourinho’s men were up for the task right from the first minute rightly got the goal from the wonder strike from their new recruit Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Manchester United Player Ratings
De Gea (8.5/10)- Both the keepers had to save some outlandish rocket shots to keep the team in the game and De Gea was lucky to be the one with less to save.
His one-hand save from Christian Eriksen’s free kick was a vital one. Another one came right at the beginning when he was caught off guard but the Spaniard still managed to keep it away.
Valencia (5.5/10)- Mkhitaryan’s deployment on the right flank reduced his offensive duties but he was poor defensively. All thanks to the referee, who chose to keep the game moving avoiding much of the bookings.
Valencia’s tackles were dangerous, especially on Danny Rose early in the first half.
Jones (8/10)- Defending mostly involved intercepting and clearing out in the tremendously paced match and Jones did his job beautifully.
Rojo (6/10)- He was just the bad version of Jones today. His defending was scrappy that reeked of under-confidence and he tried to cover it with rash tackling.
While many state this one to be his best display so far, we here at T4O simply disagree with that assessment.
Darmian (6.5/10)- Failed to match up to the pace of the game at times and Sissoko found space behind him quite often. Needs more game time.
