Matic (7)- He came back to the team shaking off his calf injury in place of Fabregas. And today was the day Chelsea was missing the creative one.
However, Matic did his box-to-box duties perfectly.
Alonso (8)- Did a crucial job of getting on to any loose ball from Albion, especially when Chelsea were leading.
It was very important not to concede a goal then and he made sure of it.
Pedro (6.5)- His consistency is an issue for the team. He showed sparks of brilliance at times showing good link-up play with Hazard and Costa but remained invisible otherwise.
Hazard (7.5)- The attacking third didn’t start quite well today and Hazard looked quite frustrated with it. The Belgian put in crosses from open play and set-pieces throughout the game and it was never the perfect one.
Costa (9)- There will be games that won’t go as one plan but a team needs to get out with 3 points anyway. Chelsea did that on two occasions, both with Diego Costa.
The Spaniard plunged on to an Albion defensive mistake and finished from a tight angle. He was the difference between the two teams.
Substitutes
Willian (8)- His impact far supersedes that of Pedro on the right flank. He was dangerous from the moment he came on and was the only winger who looked hard to defend against West Brom.
