Record German champions Bayern Munich successfully restored their status as Bundesliga table toppers, when they smashed aside a toothless Wolfsburg side 5:0 at home. The Bavarians started their onslaught quite early on as Arjen Robben and Robert Lewandowski gave Bayern a 2:0 lead at half time.
A second half goal from Lewandowski, followed by a tap in from Thomas Muller settled the game before Douglas Costa completed the rout at the end to make it 5:0.
Bayern Munich Players Rated In Their Convincing Win Over Wolfsburg
Manuel Neuer (7.5/10): Didn’t have anything to do in the entire game apart from a great save in late stages to deny Daniel Caligiuri the consolation goal.
He registered his back to back clean sheets and seven overall this season.
Philipp Lahm (8.5/10): Switched back to his usual right-back role but it didn’t hinder the performance of the Bayern captain as he rounded off an excellent performance against Wolfsburg.
His pass went down as an assist for the Arjen Robben goal.
Javi Martinez (7.5/10): Never really got tested in defence as the Spanish International enjoyed a quite afternoon in defence.
His compatriot Borja Mayoral did very little to unsettle the 28-year-old.
David Alaba (8/10): Once again started as a central defender for Bayern. Even though he rarely got tested in defence, the Austria was a key figure in the buildup and offensive play from Bayern.
Juan Bernat (8/10): His consistency as a backup for Bayern is certainly incredible.
Constantly waved around the flanks, combining well with Arjen Robben and putting in some dangerous crosses.
