Arsene Wenger has revealed that he sought the help of David Beckham to revive Arsenal’s poor form recently. The Gunners had a very strong start in the Premier League but successive defeats before their win vs West Brom yesterday, have somehow given their title chances a major setback.
Beckham trained with the Gunners back in 2013, after he decided to leave Los Angeles Galaxy of MLS. The former Manchester United midfielder enjoyed a trophy-laden career at Old Trafford before being signed by Real Madrid.
Wenger said, “There is a special thing that happens for a football player in the dressing room. I spoke with David Beckham about that recently. I asked him if he missed it since he retired.
“He said, ‘Football I can play every day because I am invited to all the charity games but I miss the dressing room, a sense of being together and fighting together’.
“Every player responds individually to criticism from the crowd or on social media. Some are more affected than others.
“But what is most important is the strength you find within yourself to respond, and that strength is something you can find inside a united dressing room.”
