Arsenal are the latest club to have been linked with Dimitri Payet. The French midfielder is one of the most influential players for West Ham United and his brilliant form helped them to finish the last season on a high.
The 29-year-old carried his brilliant form to the Euros and arguably was the best player for Les Bleus. France lost to Portugal in the Euro Cup Final but Payet’s display caught the eye of many clubs.
The playmaker who arrived from Marseille last year signed a new contract with the Hammers worth £125,000-a-week. West Ham are Languishing at the 17th place this season after a loss in the London derby against Arsenal. The Hammers are considering a new contract for the French man who has been the only player to show some intent for the side but considering how bad the team is playing, it’s unlikely he’s going to put pen to paper.
The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger heaped praise on the star player, “Payet is now even in France one of the star players, he has realised a bit late in his career and fulfilled his potential.
“West Ham was one of the triggers for him, not only did he convince last year he is a top class player, he won his place in the national team.”
