According to reports, Liverpool and Arsenal are keeping tabs on Ajax midfielder Riechedly Bazoer who is set to leave Ajax next month. The Premier League clubs are, however, not the only suitors of the 20-year-old as Barcelona and Juventus are also targeting the talented youngster.
Bazoer has already played 51 league games for Ajax at such a young age and is touted to have a bright future. Ajax manager Peter Bosz is pretty much sure of the midfielder moving out this winter and he was also left out of the squad that face Standard Liege in the Europa League on Thursday.
Bosz told the media, “After talks with Riechedly I assume there is a big chance that he is not with this team anymore after the winter break. Against Standard, I want to play young players so they can get used to this international level.”
This has put Arsenal and Liverpool on red alert as England seems to be a preferred destination for the midfielder. Bazoer’s playing time has been limited so far appearing only 5 times. He has managed to create two chances and has completed 133 passes this season with a pass accuracy of 90%, of which 57% were forward passes.
His technique and a sharp eye for passing make him an admirable player at his age. Bazoer has shown glimpses of his amazing technique through his controlled long shots and ability to ease past opponents at will. His discipline in the game exceeds his nascent age and he could well be a good addition to any team.
His style of play, quite a lot, depicts to that of Patrick Vieira. The former France midfielder played for Arsenal and played a massive role in the highly successful invincible era under Wenger.
Arsenal is home to many talented players that includes the likes of Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Alex Iwobi, Cesc Fabregas and more. Bazoer would undoubtedly be best nurtured at the North London club. But, Arsenal currently is packed with players at the middle of the park and if playing for the first team is a priority for Bazoer, Arsenal is the wrong choice for the player.
Fortunately for Bazoer, Liverpool could be a good destination. The Reds lack options in the central midfield and with their attacking half doing most of the job, Klopp doesn’t have too many options apart from Jordan Henderson. They have Marko Grujic, who is the only natural central midfielder apart from Henderson.
With James Milner playing in the right back position, Klopp has few options up his sleeve and someone like Bazoer could be a good option to have to challenge Henderson or even slot alongside him in the three-man midfield. Having a technical player like Bazoer could really be a brilliant option for Klopp.
