Arsenal are stepping up their interest in Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente. The 21-year old is right now plying his trade at Deportivo Alaves as Real want him to have some first team experience. The midfielder is a product of the Real Madrid academy and broke into the first team last season.
Arsene Wenger is very impressed with the midfielder’s performance and wants to bring him to the Emirates at any cost. He could be the long-term replacement of Santi Cazorla.
Cazorla is right now nursing an injury and hasn’t featured since the 6-0 win against Ludogorets in the Uefa Champions League. Added to that, his contract is scheduled to expire at the end of the season and there has been speculation that Arsenal might not offer him a new contract.
Llorente is believed to be a big fan of Real Madrid as there has been a tradition in his family as his father and grandfather all played for the Spanish giants. That could pose a problem to a potential deal happening between the Gunners and the Los Blancos.
