Arsenal defender Gabriel has advised his teammates to focus on rectifying their mistakes. Arsenal have failed to keep up the momentum as they lost successive matches at the hands of Everton and Manchester City.
Gabriel arrived from Villarreal last year and has been a bit part player. Shkodran Mustafi has been sidelined with an injury and Gabriel alongside Laurent Koscielny are in the charge of Arsenal defence.
Arsenal are right now 4th in the league table with 34 points and need to raise their bar if they want to reduce the gap with Chelsea. With a very busy festive fixture ahead they will have a chance to plug the difference.
Gabriel said, “We had two away games to gain six points, and we ended up not achieving that.
“We lost both games on reversals, losing them from a winning position, with basic mistakes. This cannot happen.
“I think each of us needs to reflect and try to keep each other in check. We must know how to demand from each other and how to respect each other.
“We were coming from a good string of games and met Everton feeling totally confident that we would win the match. We did start out winning, but ended up suffering. We conceded two goals, which is something that just can’t happen to a team as big as ours. And it wasn’t different against Manchester City on Sunday. Again we started out winning and ended up losing.”
