Arsenal’s misery was compounded by a Manchester City side, who despite missing a host of their stars, were good enough to come from behind and beat an impotent Gunner’s side. Wenger’s men did get off to a great start, with Walcott netting within the opening 5 minutes but it was a one-way traffic since then.
Although City could not penetrate in the first half despite lording over the possession stats, it was a completely different story after that. A sharper and an intent City came out of the tunnel and took the game to the opposition. City seem to have too many good players, who are a bit circumspect when they get into the box. And it is something Pep will certainly address in the coming days.
But in the meanwhile, let us take a brief look at how the Gunner’s fared in their 2nd loss in 5 days.
CECH- 5/10
Could have done better for the Sterling goal. First time in his career that he has gone without a clean sheet in 8 games. His kicking was off today.
BELLERIN- 6/10
Hared up and down the touchline throughout the game but wasn’t his best day in office. Shot wildly over a couple of times. But destined for big things.
GABRIEL- 5/10
Was not confident and it was evident. Could not assert himself on the match. The lack of a striker to mark might have backfired on him. Mustafi is been missed.
KOSCIELNY-7/10
Had to deal with a lot with Gabriel below standard on the day. Got booked but was largely authoritative and marshalled his defence well.
MONREAL- 6.5/10
Had a better outing than in recent weeks. Was seen at both ends of the part but part of a backline which conceded 2. So..
