Jürgen Klopp has claimed that James Milner is amongst the top five players he has ever worked with.
Milner arrived from Manchester City on a free transfer after spending five seasons with the club. Klopp has been deploying him on the left side of the defence As Alberto Moreno has failed to impress and the 30-year old has excelled in that role.
The England midfielder has added five goals to his tally this season. Having spent almost his entire career as a midfielder, Milner is thriving in the new role. Jürgen Klopp has managed a number of star players in the past with the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Mats Hummels and Marco Reus but has chosen the 30-year-old over them.
Klopp said, “I have nothing bad to say about any of my players, but he is certainly in the top five.
“I have been very lucky to surround myself with great professionals, but Milly is 100 per cent in the top five. He is the perfect professional.
“I’m not 1oo per cent sure what his future holds in this position, but he is comfortable and, with the ball is especially, he looks assured.”
