Everyone saw it coming for a long time. Simone Zaza has been a horrible signing for West Ham this season and his lacklustre performances have forced Bilic to stop using the player since the last month. The winger, Michail Antonio, has been the preferred forward with Zaza demoted to the bench. Carroll’s return has boosted the Hammers as well.
And as per reports in Italian news agencies, Simone Zaza is all set to have final talks with West Ham about cutting short his loan spell with the Hammers. Zaza has failed to make any sort of impact for the club despite appearing 11 times this season and Bilic is already looking at other options to replace the forward.
The Juventus loanee apparently has suitors in Valencia and Napoli and a move away from West Ham United might see the striker returning to his homeland.
Here are 3 strikers West Ham United could replace Simone Zaza in January.
Manolo Gabbiadini
Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is a great admirer of Zaza and is looking for a swap deal with his current out of touch striker. This deal looks like a win-win situation for both the clubs. At 181 cm, Gabbiadini’s height looks quite a perfect for Premiere League. His is well known for his versatility in the Serie A and could be a good addition to the Hammers.
Although the Hammers have Dimitri Payet for free kicks, who scored some stunning free kicks last season, the Italian would be an extra option apart from Payet considering his ability in dead-ball situations.
Łukasz Teodorczyk
A prolific striker throughout his career, Teodorczyk’s spell with Anderlecht this season has brought him to the limelight. Belgian Pro League has always been a competitive league that has seen plenty of great players graduating from that league and making a big name for themselves. Teodorczyk is one such candidate.
A strong and physical striker, Teodorczyk hardly gets outmuscled by defenders which will help his cause in the Premier League. He does have good pace in his locker and tries to beat the defensive line. He is more like a fit version of Andy Carroll.
Moussa Marega
The current FC Porto loanee has impressed this season by scoring 10 goals already in the league and also bagging 2 assists. The 183 cm forward could prove to be a decent aerial threat in the West Ham squad, who otherwise lack proven players up front.
Marega’s stamina could be a huge asset for the team’s playing style. West Ham United mostly play on the counter, and the need for their strikers to work hard is imperative. The lack of any natural striker for most of the first half has hampered their form heavily.
