Liverpool will be hurting after a ridiculous loss against Bournemouth last weekend where after being 3-1 up in the 63rd minute, they somehow managed to succumb to a 4-3 loss. The Cherries have to be given credit for the belief and their attitude of not letting their shoulders droop even after being carved open again and again and going down 3-1 to the 2nd side in the League.
While Liverpool have looked irresistible going forward with their twinkle-toed contingent, there has been a perennial issue regarding their defence. And they got documented in a better way in face of the onslaught of the Cherries. While Klopp could do with a centre-back, he desperately needs a specialist left-back as it is apparent that asking Milner to deputise for a long and arduous season will certainly come back to haunt them in the long run.
We take a look at 3 left-back options Klopp might have a look at.
JONAS HECTOR (FC COLN)
The 26-year-old is a regular in Joachim Low’s German national team now and boasts 24 senior caps for Die Mannschaft now. He has been brilliant for both his club and country and would certainly add a touch of class to the Liverpool backline. He has been previously linked with most of the top clubs in the country including Liverpool. Few modern full-backs are defensively as sound on crosses coming from the opposite flank, and he’s strong in one vs one situations with opposing wingers also.
Additionally, Hector has the handy ability to be able to break swiftly from defence and has the ability to position himself in advanced areas and his off the ball movements are also eye-catching.
RICARDO RODRIGUEZ (WOLFSBURG)
The well-built and impressive frame of the left-back makes him stand out from players in his position. His relatively young age and his physical maturity make him a fearsome prospect especially in one on one situations. He is an excellent dribbler in great in the air.
His crossing and also his presence during set-pieces will come in handy. Wolfsburg are in a dire situation and look destined to be embroiled in the battle for the drop which might allow the club to cash in and the player an escape route.
ANDY ROBERTSON (HULL CITY)
The Hull City left-back has been impressive this season. One of the few players considered of having an excellent future ahead of him. His age is ideal for Liverpool’s youth-oriented transfer policy and given Klopp’s belief of nurturing players on the training pitch, it might be an ideal transfer for both parties.
Hull City have failed to sustain their brilliant start and look destined for a relegation dogfight and given the scenario, Robertson will be open to such a high-profile move and even the Tigers might want to make a profit on him.
