Twitter Reacts As Celtic Win Their 100th Major Honour, One Fan Even Gets In A Dig At Rangers

Winning your first trophy as a manager is always special. Brendan Rodgers will remember this afternoon forever as his Celtic side brushed aside Aberdeen 3-0 in the final of the Scottish League Cup. The victory brings Celtic their 100th major trophy enriching the club’s glorious history even more. Rodgers deserves every piece of glory for the work he has done in such a short period of time and there should be plenty to follow.

A sellout Hampden Park saw Celtic toying with Aberdeen throughout the 90 minutes. Aberdeen did get their chances but failed to convert them. Celtic were in total control of the game and it never seemed like that any drama could be produced by Aberdeen.

It was Tom Rogic who opened the scoring for the Hoops. Jozo Simunovic showed excellent awareness to pick out the Aussie on the right flank and the attacking midfielder curled the ball past the Aberdeen keeper after cutting in from the wide area. In the 37th minute, James Forrest doubled the lead with an almost identical strike. He picked up the ball at the centre of the pitch and drove at the Aberdeen defence before firing an unstoppable shot past the keeper.

Moussa Dembele tripled the lead in the second half from the spot. Rogic and Forrest were involved in the build-up. Rogic played a nicely-timed pass for Forrest who was clattered inside the area and Dembele, who had a silent afternoon otherwise, did not make any mistake from the spot.

The win keeps Celtic still unbeaten in domestic competitions. In fact, they have won all their domestic games this season apart from just one draw in the Premiership. The Bhoys have been the dominant force in Scotland since a long time now but after Rodgers’ arrival, that has gone at a whole new level.

Twitter erupted with Celtic winning the game. The fans have nothing but praise for the manager who looks destined to take them to a whole new height. Here are some best tweets on Celtic’s League Cup win-
