Numerous reports are indicating that North London club Tottenham Hotspur are looking for a loan deal for Isco from Real Madrid in the January transfer window. Spurs tried to strike a loan deal in the summer when Isco spoke out about his frustration concerning less game time at the Real Madrid but the deal failed to materialise, as per Mirror.
Since then, Isco has become a regular in Zidane’s tactics leaving James Rodriguez on the bench. With Luke Modric out with an injury, Isco has paired well with Kovacic and Real Madrid are currently on a 5-match winning streak. The Spaniard has scored 2 and bagged 1 assist in 7 appearances. According to Squawka, Isco has now been directly involved in 3 goals in his last 2 games for the Los Blancos.
Mauricio Pochettino has been a keen admirer of the 24-year-old attacking midfielder and would love to see him on his side, who have gone without a win in their last 5 matches. Tottenham only have two attacking midfielders in Christian Eriksen and Josh Onomah. Others are mainly central or box to box midfielders that includes Dele Alli, Mousa Dembele, Moussa Sissoko and Tom Carroll.
With Onomah only 19 years old, Isco would be the ideal partner to pair behind the striker with Eriksen. The Spanish midfield maestro would fit in perfectly in Pochettino attacking tactical play with inch-perfect passing and dribbling past opponents being his strong attributes.
Isco is a far more creative player than Alli who could be the best player to have alongside a defensive midfielder to make those late runs into the box. He could potentially bring make Spurs right back to the league position they are aiming this season after finishing last season in the top 3.
While Isco would be an ideal candidate for Spurs’ counter attack, his physical attributes would be a big disadvantage in the English Premier League. Isco would often fail to win the aerial duels. And with Eriksen already falling in that bracket, having another similar player could make spurs a weaker unit in set-pieces.
Although Isco’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2018, Real Madrid just might be willing to loan their fringe star out considering that they will still be having James Rodriguez and Luka Modric to fill his shoes.
It won’t be an easy deal for Tottenham as they are will undoubtedly be facing stiff competition for Isco’s signature considering the talent he is.
