Mauricio Pochettino has admitted they need more quality players if they want to do well in the future. Tottenham Hotspur crashed out of the Champions League after a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Monaco.
Hugo Lloris saved a first-half penalty from Radamel Falcao but couldn’t save his team from the disaster. Djibril Sidibe’s opened the scoring for the French side but Harry Kane levelled matters after few minutes. Thomas Lemar drove past Lloris to send Monaco to the last 16 stage of the Champions League.
Spurs will now have to beat CSKA Moscow to gain a place in the Europa League and the Argentine gaffer thinks that Spurs lack the quality right now, “Maybe we need to add more quality in the squad.
“We have quality, yes. To compete in Premier League, yes but you could say we struggled a little bit. When you have problem, injuries, it is difficult to be competitive.”
Pochettino lamented the scenario as Spurs conceded a goal minutes after their equaliser. ”We feel upset and disappointed. We are fighting to try to win. We have to take risks and go forward, the players feel frustrated and concede more opportunities.
“It is difficult to explain in the way we conceded second goal it put us in difficult position.”
