The age old saga of Ajax producing a high-class and supremely talented bunch of youngsters haven’t ceased to exist in any form whatsoever. From Johan Cruyff to Luis Suárez, innumerable players have been developed and perfected by the Dutch outfit. While the illustrious club still lives up to its famed yardsticks of harbouring and moulding players of the next generation, the financially strong clubs across Europe prefer the shorter route and lure Ajax’s budding and promising youngsters with their purchasing power.
One of such recent gossips in the football fraternity has been featuring the Ajax’s striker Kasper Dolberg being linked to a move to the Etihad Stadium. Manchester City, despite having had a good start to the campaign, are believed to have been keeping a close eye of the 19-year-old and we have compiled a brief SWOT Analysis of the youngster for our viewers to throw some light on this severely talented player.
Strengths
Kasper Dolberg is a big, lanky and strong centre-forward with pace being an essential nuke in his armoury. Almost seven feet tall, he possesses the spectacular aura of dynamism which comprises of his constant awareness and availability at the vicinity of the box, physicality coupled with raw speed, the ability to hold-up the game up front and icing the aforesaid characteristics with a venomous finishing which makes him a complete package up front.
Apart from all these, his lithe and cunningness in pulling out the defenders, ability to create yards of space and the composure he has shown ever since embracing the Ajax shirt have made de Godenzonen side being vouched by the scouts from clubs across Europe once again. In 12 appearances this season in Dutch Eredivisie, Dolberg has netted 8 times with 2 assists to his name as well. Sheer stupendous, isn’t it?
Weaknesses
Having said about the merits, the minuses he needs to address should not go unnoticed. Dolberg suffers from the lack of requisite stamina, which is why he has been pulled out of the games by Peter Bosz on a number of occasions.
Further, unlike the conventional outputs of Ajax who pass the ball with a touch of precision, the Ajax’s no. 25 lacks that cutting edge when it comes to making accurate passes (statistically speaking, he has clocked a pass accuracy of merely 76% in the league this season). Moreover, given his size and strength, he must contribute defensively as well which is a part of the game he hasn’t looked at (apparently).
