Stoke City have their eyes set on Schalke left back Sead Kolasinac according to several reports. The fullback is set to enter the final six months of his current contract on the turn of the year, and won’t be short of suitors as the possibility of a free transfer presents itself. It is reported that Liverpool, Roma, Tottenham and Everton all are monitoring his situation and are ready to move in if Schalke decide to cash in on him in the winter or snap him up for free at the end of the season for free.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international left-back was born in Germany and in his youth days, had stints in three different youth academies of various clubs in Germany before joining Schalke 04 in 2011.
After just one year in the youth academy of the club, Kolasinac made his debut for the first team in 2012 and has since then managed to keep his place in the team becoming the first choice left back for the Royal Blues. The 23-year old managed to replace the dependable Christian Fuchs in the team and with a serious injury to Dennis Aogo, he got the chance for an extended run in the team.
After performing admirably in the 2013/14 season, the fullback suffered an ACL injury at the start of the next season, which kept him out of action for 6 months but has since returned back to full fitness looking to be back in rhythm once again.
This season, the defender has been excellent attacking wise as he has provided 4 assists from his 8 appearances in the Bundesliga, which is all the reason why clubs are in for him in numbers.
Mark Hughes knows very well that Kolasinac will be an excellent addition to the squad who can offer the defensive solidity along with the offensive surge for the Potters. Somebody who is such well-built and has a no nonsense defending approach can be a perfect fit for the Premier League as well for a club like Stoke City.
Mark Hughes’ men have turned things around after a disastrous start but have struggled a bit in their forward play as well as in their defending in the wide areas. The solution to the two problems can be found in the Schalke fullback who is excellent in his defending and has shown how effective he can be in the attacking phase with his assists this term. Capturing Kolasinac thus would be a fantastic move for Stoke City which will help them climb up the ladder in the Premier League table this season.
