Celtic fans will be very happy with the fantastic start they have had to their season this time out. Brendan Rodgers took the Celtic hot seat from Ronny Deila who had a decent success with the Hoops in his two seasons. So, there was a huge pressure on the Northern Irishman for delivering more than what the former gaffer achieved. From what we have seen thus far, Celtic should be able to build on their recent success under Rodgers.
Let us take a look at the stars and duds for Celtic thus far this season.
Stars
Moussa Dembele
The young French striker moved to Celtic this summer from Championship side Fulham on a free transfer and since then, he had nothing but joy in a Celtic shirt. Replacing last season’s 40-goal striker Leigh Griffiths as the first-choice striker at Parkhead was never an easy task but 20-year-old Dembele has done that. With 16 goals from 24 games this season, Dembele has been one of the stellar performers for Celtic.
Scott Sinclair
What a turnaround of fortune Sinclair has had since he joined Celtic from Aston Villa this summer. His career in English football had stalled big time and Rodgers offered him a lifeline to save his career and he took it in some style. Rodgers reuniting with Sinclair at Parkhead has gone so well for the Hoops. 10 goals already this season from 20 games along with 3 assists- Sinclair has been a massive hit at Celtic so far.
Scott Brown
A skipper should always lead by example and Celtic skipper Scott Brown does that with perfection. The tenacious Scottish international has been in an amazing form for the Hoops this season. Almost an ever-present member of the Celtic side, Brown has stamped his control on the games from midfield.
Duds
Nir Bitton
Well, the Israel international started this season as a first-team player but now looks out of favour under Rodgers. He is a defensive midfielder and does not contribute much attacking wise and Rodgers is not a fan of playing out and out defensive minded midfielders. So, Bitton makes the list of duds.
Dorus de Vries
The Dutch custodian reunited with his former boss Rodgers at Celtic Park and it was widely thought hat he would replace Craig Gordon as the first-choice keeper due to the fact that he is a sweeper keeper and Rodgers wants keepers like him. However, things have not worked out well for the Dutchman at Paradise.
Patrick Roberts
When the Manchester City youngster joined Celtic on loan in January this year, he made a big impact but the youngster has struggled for starts under Rodgers of late. James Forrest has replaced the English wonderkid as the first-choice right winger out of nowhere and unfortunately for the youngster, he makes our list of duds.
