Liverpool are interested in FC Rostov forward Sardar Azmoun according to latest reports. Jürgen Klopp is ready to bring in some more firepower in the next transfer window and he feels that the Iranian might be a player who can fit in perfectly.
Born in Gonbad-e Kavus, Iran, Azmoun had a number of stints with various Iranian clubs. At age 15, while playing for Sepahan he caught the really impressed the scouts after his stunning form with the Iran U-20 team. As a result, there was interest from Europe and Rubin Kazan was the club who decided to sign him.
Rubin used the striker sporadically and last season he spent time at FC Rostov on loan after extending the loan deal which first commenced on February 2015 for a period of three and a half month as Rostov battled relegation.
The 21-year old became a fan favourite by helping his team survive the drop and scoring the winning goal in the relegation playoff match. 9 goals in 24 games in the Russian Premier League along with 3 assists was enough to convince Rostov to sign the striker permanently who helped them finish the season as runners-up after surviving relegation the last year and qualify for the Champions League.
A striker who displays the predatory instincts to perfection, Azmoun is a very good finisher with equally good technique. The Iranian can create time and space for himself with his dynamic dribbling ability, which proves to be a constant threat in the opposition box.
The 21-year old is also very versatile and can play as an attacking midfielder just in behind the striker as well. His versatility is the reason why Azmoun excels in his teamwork being perfectly able to link up with the others on the pitch in a bid to create the openings. Standing at 6 ft 1 in, the attacker also possesses excellent aerial prowess.
The things on which he needs to work upon are his physique which is a bit too lightweight at the moment for the rigours of a physically demanding league, along with his consistency. In order to be considered to be at the level similar with the other top strikers, consistency will be the key for this young Iranian.
It would be interesting to see what the future of the attacker holds and if he makes the move to England or not. Liverpool certainly would have a talented player on their hands if they sign him and Klopp can develop him even further to make him another option which he can call upon to mix things around when needed.
