The Premier League seeps with history and is seen as a lucrative destination for players all over the world in terms of footballing challenge as well as remuneration. Over the years it has seen a steady flow of world-class players who have graced the top flight of the English football. Many players have realised their potential under managers while playing for teams like Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and several other clubs. They have gone on to carve out a niche in the history of football for themselves.
But of late, there have been murmurs in various sections of the footballing fraternity doubting the presence of truly world class players in the league at this moment. The League is known more for its competitive nature and many sceptics point out the lack of an out and out world beater in any team, the reason behind the balance the League is able to maintain.
And to add to that bandwagon, Alan Shearer came out with an explosive statement where he suggested that Manchester City striker, Sergio Aguero is the one truly world-class player in the League. There has been an outcry from several sectors and mostly from the fans of the other big clubs who believe their players are more than qualified to be named in the same bracket as the top players in the world.
So, we take a look at a potential XI with players we believe are good enough to be termed as world class.
