Manchester United suffered yet another setback as they could only muster a 1-1 draw at home against a struggling West Ham United side and in the process fell 11 points off the pace in the title race. And looking at the overall situation at the club, it might be time for the who’s who in the club to reassess their targets and priorities for this season.
The frustration and the pent-up angst amongst the star players and especially the manager Jose Mourinho is becoming clearer and it is something they need to sort out before moving onto the technical aspects.
Mourinho’s two red cards (figuratively speaking) this season does not look in sync with the ethos of a club like Manchester United and these are the finer aspects which needs to be put into place.
Coming back to matters on the field, their profligacy in front of goal aligned with the opposition keeper’s heroics again denied them the all important 2nd goal. But it shouldn’t be put across as an excuse as it is now becoming a recurring occurrence.
We are into the 4 months into the season and Mourinho hasn’t been able to zero in on his first eleven till now. With an EFL encounter with the same oppositions in midweek, let us look at how they might line up.
PREDICTED MANCHESTER UNITED LINE-UP VS WEST HAM UNITED (4-2-3-1)
DEFENCE
David De Gea is in line for a rest and Romero is likely to come in his place. The Argentine will want to be a regular in the club fixtures and will be pumped up to perform in any opportunity that he gets.
Fosu-Mensah will most likely get a game at right-back after his complete absence since the initial weeks of the season. With options scarce in defence, Phil Jones might have to start once again with Blind as his partner.
Luke Shaw is expected to be given a rare start at left-back.
