Leeds United will travel to New York Stadium on Saturday to take on Rotherham in the Championship. The Whites lost their playoff spot with a 2-0 loss against high-flying Newcastle United last week but Monk’s boys had a decent outing against the Magpies.
Before the last game, the Yorkshire-based side had collected 22 points from the available 30 and the Whites are now a formidable force in the Championship.
Rotherham looks like a cakewalk for Leeds on paper considering the form of the Millers. They are rock bottom of the table with just 7 points from 17 games and the gap between them and the 23rd-placed Wigan is eight points which means that they need a serious fightback to save their Championship status. So, Leeds must be wary of the contest Rotherham might come up with.
Leeds have a poor record against their upcoming opponents, though. They are without a win against Rotherham in six games till date. The Whites lost four times while two games finished as stalemates. Monk will be desperate to put an end to his side’s poor record against the bottom of the table Rotherham.
Here is the predicted Leeds United lineup Vs Rotherham.
Defence
Veteran shot-stopper Robert Green will start between the sticks for the Whites. Leeds’ defence has been rock-solid this season with Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson performing out of their skin but the Whites will miss Jansson’s services against Rotherham as the Swede picked up his fifth booking of the season against Newcastle United last week.
With the Swedish international unavailable, Liam Cooper is likely to get his chance in central defence alongside Kyle Bartley.
Luke Ayling should keep his place at right-back even through Gaetano Berardi is fit again. He established himself as the first-choice right-back when Berardi was out with injury.
Highly rated left-back Charlie Taylor will keep his place at left-back.
