Aston Villa will be facing Blackburn Rovers in what will be a lower table clash this Saturday with both the clubs trying to get back to winning ways and move up the table.
Aston Villa’s progress was bumped by a draw last weekend away at rivals Birmingham City, where they were held 1-1.
Form
Villa have drawn 2, won 2 and lost 1 in their last 5 games, while Blackburn Rovers have drawn 2, lost 2 and won 1 in their last 5 games.
Aston Villa currently sit at the 15th position in the Championship table with 18 points from the opening 15 games having seen a recent resurgence under new gaffer Steve Bruce. Blackburn Rovers are one position above the rock bottom and are struggling at the moment. They are in the 23rd position with 13 points in the same number of games.
Blackburn Rovers will be visiting Villa Park well aware of the fact that they have failed to win even one of the last five fixtures against Aston Villa. With Blackburn not in a good form, the fixture seems to be a routine win for Villa, who are looking to move to the top half of the table.
Defence
Pierluigi Gollini will start under the bar. He has impressed Steve Bruce enough with his performance and is also a very highly rated prospect. Alan Hutton is expected to his position in the right back position with Micah Richards still uncertain to take part in the game.
James Chester will start at the centre back for Bruce with Nathan Baker at the heart of the defence. Jordan Amavi was given the nod before Aly Cissokho and we expect the latter to re-take his position.
Midfield
Bruce seems to be a great admirer of the latest summer signing from Crystal Palace Mile Jedinak and has started the Aussie defensive midfielder regular, who has delivered accordingly. His lack of pace has seemed to be a problem for many but Bruce thinks otherwise.
To aid him with creativity from the deep lying midfield, Bruce is expected to deploy Ashley Westwood. Gary Gardner should keep his place in the number ten role supporting the striker upfront and orchestrating the two flanks.
Attack
Albert Adomah is likely to keep his place on the right flank. The 28-year-old is a big threat with his pace and strength and will be looking to trouble the Blackburn defence. Villa top scorer Jonathan Kodija is likely to start at the top as the striker. With Ayew suspended, Rudy Gestede will have to take his place in the left flank.
