Recent reports suggest that Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Manchester City’s star striker Sergio Aguero. The Argentine can easily be touted as one of the best strikers in European football at the moment and there is no doubt Madrid will be looking to add the star in their Galactico gauntlet.
Aguero has been amazing since arriving at Manchester City from Atletico Madrid. It was he who led them to the Premier league win after scoring a last second winner snatching the Premier League trophy from fierce rival Manchester United on the last day of the English Premier League.
He has started this season brilliantly with 7 goals in 7 appearances, which includes a hat-trick. The Argentine is talented enough to be the first team striker for any team in any league. Hence, the transfer seems to be a distant deal for Madrid as Aguero stands at the centre of their new manager Pep Guardiola’s plans. Zidane might have to shell out more than he has done till now considering City owners are equally rich and would move the Earth to retain their best player.
Madrid have been on a goal-scoring spree in their past few matches, but Karim Benzema hasn’t been in consistent form for the Spanish giants and Zidane would want a striker who can finish at will, which Aguero does with much aplomb. Alvaro Morata has also shown great form this season scoring often coming off the bench. However, if you have the chance to sign someone like El Kun, you simply have to try.
At 28, Aguero is in his prime and still has a good three years to offer in front of the goal. His only downside is that he is injury prone. His dependence on his agility has led him to get being on the sidelines on many occasions owing to muscle injuries. His short height doesn’t make him more of an aerial threat but the balance he possesses is immaculate.
Aguero is already a star in City and moving to Madrid with the likes Ronaldo, Bale and Modric behind him could help him surpass many records. It would then truly match the world class attacking trio of Barcelona. Real Madrid are currently on a transfer ban from FIFA, and that is the only thing that could scupper any potential deal.
Real Madrid recently faced a humiliating draw at the hands of Legia Warsaw letting in 3 goals missing the chance to move top of their Champions League group. They did have chances, and one does wonder if they had someone like Aguero, what the final scoreline would have been!
