As the January transfer window looms over the horizon, there will again be some considerable changes in the team squads across the Premier League. After spending a record amount of 1 billion this summer, there had been a lot of quality added to the clubs by their respective managers. Spending huge sums of money on players is always a probability which can turn out either ways and 11 weeks into the 2016/17 season, we are now able to get a picture of some of the clubs who have failed to get the service required out of their massive transfers.
As always it has been a mixed transfer window and there are some clubs who have been able to feel the impact of their new players. Let’s take a look at some of those clubs who can qualify themselves in the category of having a good transfer window.
Arsenal
The summer saw Arsene Wenger sign the likes of Granit Xhaka, Shkodran Mustafi, Rob Holding, Lucas Perez and Takuma Asano. Xhaka has been impressive for his new club since his arrival and has already made it clear that he has the goods to deliver the performances his price tag demands.
Rob Holding has looked has put in some promising performances and Shkodran Mustafi has seamlessly slotted into the Arsenal defence, forming a wonderful partnership with Laurent Koscielny delivering some very solid defensive displays which have resulted in the club remaining unbeaten since the opening day defeat at the hands of Liverpool.
Arsenal are currently 2 points adrift the top of the table and looks to be a much stronger and compact unit. The new arrivals has played a massive part in the team’s good run.
Everton
Ronald Koeman has certainly turned things around at Goodison since his appointment and currently in the 7th position, of the League table, the performances of new recruits, Idrissa Gueye and Yannick Bolasie has really caught the eye. While leading the defensive ratings of his team as per WhoScored.com, the Senegalese midfielder has been exemplary in breaking down opponents play in the middle of the park with his highly effective tackles.
Another player who has made an impact is Yannick Bolasie, the former Crystal Palace man has already provided the highest number of assist for his team helping them be decisive in the utilisation of the wide areas in the final third. The understanding he has with Striker Romelu Lukaku has seen Everton score more goals and be more efficient going forward in their moves.
Stoke City
A bit surprising to be included considering that they didn’t start well at all but the Potters have turned it around and their new recruit Joe Allen has been the man responsible for everything they have done well on the pitch this season.
For a team which has scored 13 goals in total so far, Allen has contributed directly in 6 of them (scored 4 assisted 2) controlling the team’s midfield totally.
Be it salvaging points against West Brom and Manchester United or taking charge of highly significant fixtures in terms of the position of the team with respect to the opponents when they faced in Hull Sunderland and Swansea, the Welshman kept on making his presence count repeatedly be it in the attacking or in the defensive phase of the team.
No other signing has had a greater impact than Joe Allen at Stoke City so far. Bony has started to pick up his form of late, and so has Martins Indi, but no one comes close to wee Joe Allen.
