The Premier League has been graced with managers and players par excellence this season which has expectedly given rise to the intense competition amongst the teams. No team can start a match as outright favourites.
For example, although Manchester United were considered clear favourites against Watford before the match, a 3-1 win for the Hornets proves this presumption won’t be repeated again.
While the cut-throat competition has proved to be beneficial to most players, it has also adversely affected a handful of players who have failed to match up to the intensity and competitiveness of the Premier League this season.
We shall take a look at 3 midfielders who need to step up after the International break.
JORDON IBE (BOURNEMOUTH)
The former Liverpool midfielder was signed for £15m in a shock deal by Bournemouth. While he did impress in the little spells afforded to him at Liverpool, the transfer fee was regarded to be exorbitant in many sections. And by the looks of it, it might indeed have had an adverse impact on the English youngster.
He has failed to justify his price tag or even his talent and has come up short till now.
After 11 matches he has yet failed to score or provide an assist.
But he should be doing better, especially under the impressive Eddie Howe.
