Bastian Schweinsteiger has been awarded the ‘Special Jury’ award in the BAMBI Awards for his contribution towards the Germany national team.
The World Cup winner moved to Manchester United in the last season from Bayern Munich. He had a not so good start to his United career as an injury marred his maiden season. The 32-year old hasn’t featured for the Red Devils in the ongoing season and also hadn’t been included in the Europa League Squad.
The midfielder reportedly is in talks with Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire for a probable transfer. United boss Jose Mourinho had asked him to train with the reserves but the midfielder was recently seen training with the first team.
The BAMBI Jury said, “With a hitherto unknown combination of discipline and effortless skill, Bastian Schweinsteiger has won the hearts of the fans and become one of Germany’s best and most popular footballers.
“His name symbolises sporting ambition and fair competition. He exudes both pure fighting spirit and a likeable, easy-going nature.”
