Zlatan Ibrahimovic will have a statue in his name after the Swedish Football Association has decided to put the player’s statue at Stockholm’s Friends Arena.
The striker was signed by Manchester United in the summer after he decided not to renew his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. He was recently honoured with the Golden Ball award as he was selected the best Swedish player of the year for the 10th season running. Ibrahimovic retired after the EURO 2016 and has 62 goals in 116 games in national colours.
Ibrahimovic said, “It feels unreal,
“Many are thinking ‘why him?’ and so on, but after all the hard work over 15 years in the national team and 20 years in my club career, it feels like it’s being appreciated.
“You usually get this after you die, but I still feel alive. When I die, this will live on forever.”
Ibrahimovic was also presented with a replica of the statue.
