In a major blow to Real Madrid, Gareth Bale could miss up to four months as he will undergo an ankle surgery.
Bale hobbled off during their 2-1 win over Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League and will have a surgery in London this month. It is reported that Bale has a “traumatic dislocation of the peroneal tendons” in his right ankle and will surely miss the El Classico on 3rd December.
Madrid issued a statement, “Medical Services Sanitas Real Madrid have decided surgery of our player Gareth Bale as a result of traumatic injury to the peroneal tendons in his right ankle. This intervention will take place at the King Edward VII Hospital in London on Tuesday 29 November by Dr. James Calder, under the supervision of club doctors Jesus Olmo and Mikel Aramberri.”
The Welsh wizard recently extended his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu till 2022. He was pretty impressive in the first half of the Sporting match but had to be substituted after the injury. Bale’s place is up for grabs and either Marco Asensio or Lucas Vazquez could take his spot.
