After failing to get their hands on the player with a reported bid of £11m, it seems that Liverpool can still have a better luck in trying to sign Borussia Dortmund youngster Christian Pulisic. The youngster who is considered by many in his homeland to be America’s top ‘soccer’ prospect has enjoyed a breakthrough year with him being promoted to the senior Dortmund team after spending a year with the club’s youth academy.
At the moment, he is a player who has already made everybody aware of his talents setting a series of records on the way playing week in week out with the German club. In April this year, the winger became the youngest foreigner to score in the Bundesliga at 17 while in May he became the youngest scorer for his USA national team.
On 14th September, Pulisic became the youngest ever player to play for Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League when he played the full 90 minutes putting in a wonderful performance registering an assist as Dortmund thrashed Legia Warszawa 6-0. A few days later he became the youngest player to bag a brace in a Bundesliga game.
The remarkable ascent of the winger was aided by the good work of coach Thomas Tuchel, who rates him very highly and under his tutelage, the winger has continued to thrive making his mark at the Signal Iduna Park. However, in a recent interview with the MailOnline, he has revealed his love for English football by saying, “It’s a big reason [for] where I am today.”
“A lot of people don’t realise but it really brought on my passion for the game. After school every day, I was just out for hours in the park, playing with my schoolmates. That’s really where my love for the game started to come alive and that was a big part of my development. There were so many players that just showed so much skill and confidence in their games. I just loved the English style, I thought [before] it was just for fun. I just started to love it so much and I said: ‘Wow. I’m pretty good! I think I can do something with this game.”
The above comments would be very encouraging for Liverpool who might look to sign him once again in the upcoming window. With former Dortmund manager Jürgen Klopp being the man in charge at Anfield currently, the winger will also not be experiencing a lot of change in tactics and overall philosophy of gameplay in which he is trained in each week at Dortmund.
With a talent like Pulisic revealing his love for the English game, the Reds already do have their cue for making another move for the player in the coming months.
