Sensational, thrilling, spell bounding, mesmerizing- no adjective seems enough to describe the game Liverpool had against Watford today at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp once again showed he is master of a tactician when it comes to playing attacking football. Watford, who did not concede a single goal in their last three Premier League games, were torn apart by the sheer class of the Liverpool attack. The game ended 6-1 but could have easily been worse for the Hornets.
Liverpool played their natural attacking game in a fluid 4-3-3 system. Watford looked solid in the first 20 minutes but after that, it was all Liverpool! Sadio Mane started the scoring and then Philippe Coutinho doubled the lead just three minutes later. Emre Can headed in Liverpool’s third just before the half-time whistle. Roberto Firmino scored in the 57th minute before setting up Sadio Mane for Liverpool’s fifth.
Just when Liverpool fans thought that they would finally get to know how a clean sheet feels like after a long time, Daryl Janmaat scored completely against the run of play. Gini Wijnaldum scored his first of the season to bury the game in added time. Here are the Liverpool player ratings from the game-
Loris Karius: 7/10
Was confident with the ball. Hardly had to make any stops in the first 70 minutes. Made a few decent stops after the 70th minute when Watford were looking for some inspiration. Could not have done much better for the goal, though.
Nathaniel Clyne: 7/10
Was hardly troubled in defence. Got forward really well.
Joel Matip: 7/10
Brilliant in possession. Passed the ball really well and always found his attacking teammates.
Lucas Leiva: 7/10
Was a surprise choice ahead of Ragnar Klavan at the back. Had a really good game. Calm and composed but should have scored.
James Milner: 7/10
Took care of Amrabat really well. Covered the space left behind by Lucas on occasions. Contributed to the attack by going forward.
