Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed that manager Jurgen Klopp was not so disappointed after a goalless draw against Southampton.
Liverpool was the clear favourites against The Saints but failed to convert any of their chances. The Reds dominated the game throughout but left frustrated with only a solitary point. Roberto Firmino missed a gilt-edged chance as he put wide after Coutinho fed him with a delicious ball.
Wijnaldum said that Klopp remains positive in the dressing room after the game, “The manager was positive, “He said ‘You must not be negative about the game, we did a lot of good things, we created a lot of chances and stopped them creating chances’.
“In the second half we played in their half. He said the only thing is we didn’t score, but sometimes in these games you can concede a goal and lose the game so the result was not that bad.”
Liverpool placed second with 27 points one point adrift of league leaders Chelsea. The midfielder went on to add, “Sometimes you have games like that when you play well but don’t score. This was that game. Of course we are disappointed. When you play a game like this and create a lot of chances you expect to score a goal.”
