Just when Liverpool were bracing themselves for big-money offers for their star player Philippe Coutinho, another trusted general of Jurgen Klopp finds himself amidst interest from foreign shores. Express Sport claims that French Ligue 1 holders Paris Saint-Germain are preparing a £40m move for Liverpool star Adam Lallana and are also ready to offer the England star a £200,000-a-week wage which would be a significant wage hike for the former Southampton skipper.
Emery Unai replaced Laurent Blanc as the manager of PSG this summer but the French champions had a rather slow start to life under the former Sevilla boss. Unai is, therefore, looking forward to the transfer window to bolster his squad and has identified Lallana as the perfect candidate. On top of that, is is claimed that PSG director of football Patrick Kluivert is a big fan of the Liverpool star and is the one who is orchestrating the move.
Lallana is currently sidelined with a groin injury and is expected to return to the first-team picture at the beginning of next month. The English midfielder is on the top of his game right now, in fact, since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp at Anfield in October last year. Well, Lallana might not be making the headlines week in week out like his teammates Coutinho, Firmino or Mane but he is pretty much the lynchpin of Jurgen Klopp’s heavy-metal football.
Lallana joined Liverpool in the summer of 2014 when Brendan Rodgers was the manager of Liverpool. He was the stellar performer for Southampton for a long time before that and was expected to reach the heights at Liverpool but the first two seasons were not the best for the 28-year-old. But, things changed rapidly after Klopp came on board.
Throughout his career, Lallana has predominantly played as a number ten. His versatility allowed him to ply his trade on the flanks too but Klopp has used him in a whole new role this season and the 28-year-old has excelled there. The Englishman plays in a box to box role in Jurgen Klopp’s 3-man midfield and his dynamism, technical abilities and creativity get the team going.

Lallana has scored 3 and assisted 5 goals in 11 Premier League games this season and has been impressive in the Three Lions Jersey also. He has established himself as a key man for England and has scored thrice in the last three games. Lallana might find it hard to say no to a big-money offer from PSG, but he has to do so for his career. Klopp is the man who turned around his career on his own and he has to keep it going.
At the same time, what Lallana brings to the Liverpool side is irreplaceable and the Reds have to keep him at Anfield at any cost. However, Liverpool needs to reconsider their wage structure in order to keep their best players at the club.
