Arsenal and Liverpool target Paul George Ntep is all set to leave his current club in January according to reports in the media. The player’s current deal at Rennes runs out at the end of the season which is why the French club will definitely be cashing in on him in January. The French international is also wanted by a host of clubs both in England and in Italy which will contribute to Rennes selling the player. The versatile attacker has been making an impact since 2013/14 season.
A left winger who can play as a striker, Ntep was actually born in Cameroon but relocated to France when he was only eight years old. The 24-year old had a stint with no less than five clubs before joining Auxerre’s youth setup. He started off in the under-18 group but very quickly gained promotion to the reserves squad, where he managed to get appear for the team on the merit of his performances during his first two seasons at the club.
When Auxerre’s was demoted to Ligue 2 in 2012, Ntep began to play for the first team starting the games on a regular basis. The 2012-13 season proved very productive for the attacker as he managed to score eight goals in 34 appearances in the season, Ntep also performed prominently at the Toulon Youth Tournament where scored twice for the France Under-21 side who finished third in that competition.
Since his move to FC Rennes Ligue 1, the attacker has made quite an impression with performances scoring 16 goals and providing 13 assists in 69 appearances.
This season he has had made 10 appearances and has bagged 5 assists already. This is exactly what the player brings to the team when he plays. Ntep is always a threat with his pace and dribbling ability which is why he is primarily played out wide on the wings so he can run the channels.
With Sadio Mane going to join his national side for the upcoming African Cup Of Nations, Liverpool would be needing a player to fill in on the flanks with similar attributes and the 24-year-old attacker can provide Jurgen Klopp with something very similar with the pace, dribbling and passing in the forward areas.
The Frenchman is also a very potent finisher who can play the forward role which is why he would feel very comfortable to play in two of the positions of the front three for the Reds. Somebody who knows how to play his teammate in when there’s a chance and has the guile of making the varied runs on his own, FC Rennes’ number 7 can be a fine option for Jurgen Klopp to buy in the winter to fill in for Sadio Mane.
