Jürgen Klopp has claimed that Liverpool will cope up without star midfielder Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho was injured in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Sunderland. He had a clash with Sunderland midfielder Didier N’dong and had to be stretchered off the field. The midfielder was in tears and later a scan revealed that he has an ankle ligament damage that will leave him out for a minimum of six weeks.
The Brazilian has been one of the most influential performers for Liverpool with six goals and five assists. Liverpool already have a number of injury concerns as Danny Ings has been ruled out for the season with a knee injury while Daniel Sturridge is nursing a calf injury.
Klopp sounded confident that Liverpool will deal with the situation without the midfielder. “Phil Coutinho is a really good football player, so if we cannot use him for the next few days or weeks each team in the world would feel it.
“But it is no excuse for anything. As good as he is he does not decide games by himself, although it sometimes looks like this.
“It is a team performance we create and he is a very important part of this team, absolutely. Of course we can handle it. If he is not in you have to show – and we will show.”
