Chelsea are set to revive their interest in Hoffenheim defender Niklas Süle. The Blues reportedly approached the German side over a potential transfer of the 21-year-old but failed to land the defender. But Antonio Conte is adamant to bolster his defensive ranks despite having one of the leakiest defences in the Premier League.
Conte has opted for a three-man defence and the idea is reaping rewards for them this season as they have conceded only one goal in their last seven matches.
John Terry has been enduring a difficult season due to back to back injuries while Branislav Ivanovic is out of contract at the end of this season. The 6′ 5″ centre-back has been consistent throughout the season.
Süle, who is thriving in the Bundesliga, said, “I’ve got my familiar environment here.
“That was and is very important for my development, and the base to put in constant performances at a high level.”
