Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi thinks that Philippe Coutinho would be a perfect addition to Barcelona. Coutinho has been linked with Barcelona after he has been impressive in the Reds’ jersey in this season.
Liverpool are currently topping the Premier league table partly due to Coutinho’s sublime form. The Brazilian also put in a superb display during a recent World Cup Qualifier against arch-rivals Argentina where he almost single-handedly destroyed the Latin American side.
Coutinho has long been a target for Barcelona. The Catalans want him to replace Andres Iniesta although they acquired Andre Gomes from Valencia but the midfielder has failed to impress so far.
Praising Coutinho the Ex Spanish International said that the 24-year-old is at the right club, “Coutinho is a player I have always thought is special – but under Klopp he has gone up another level.
“On form there are not any better midfield players in Europe.
“He is playing under one of the most intelligent coaches in Europe. Klopp has a lot of experience at developing world-class players, so it is a good club for him to be at.”
He went on to add, “There are not many players that can improve Barcelona, but if you are asking me if he is one of them, on this form, I think he is. Technically he is very good. He would suit Barcelona’s philosophy well.”
