Antonio Conte will be facing a selection headache as Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma is on the verge of regaining full fitness. The defender played the full 90 minutes against Oxford United in Checkatrade Trophy.
The French defender had been sidelined since February after injuring his ACL. Conte has been searching a defender and Zouma’s fitness will be a big boost for him. Zouma, who was a regular in Guus Hiddink’s starting lineup, underwent a surgery after sustaining the injury .
Zouma who was signed from Saint-Etienne revealed that he is looking forward towards his Chelsea career, “It has been very nice to be back because I haven’t played for such a long time.
“I have been training with the development squad for a couple of weeks and I’ve enjoyed the experience a lot. They have some very good players so the training and matches have been very good.”
Chelsea have been playing with 3-4-3 and the 22-year-old insisted that he is ready to fit in the three-man defence system, “We’ve played with three at the back in the last two games as well, which has been good for me to understand and learn the position a bit better. I’ve not played in that system much in my career but this is what the first-team are using at the moment so it was good for me to experience it.”
