Chelsea are planning to offer striker Diego Costa a new contract to ward off interests from clubs especially Atletico Madrid.
Costa has been key to Chelsea’s success this year. The prolific forward has been in sublime form and is right now the highest goal scorer in the Premier League with nine goals. Since Conte switched back to 3-4-3 Chelsea haven’t conceded a goal and have netted 16 goals in their last five Premier League matches.
Roman Abramovich has already given the green signal for a squad revamp in January and won’t mind splashing money on the Spanish striker’s new contract. The Londoners are right now second to Liverpool and have a very good chance to win the title. Keeping in that mind Chelsea are ready to negotiate fresh terms of a deal to tie him to a longer period.
Costa has a very good relation with Atleti manager Diego Simeone and was even pictured with him a couple of days ago. The Striker has a contract till 2019 but Abramovich is ready to better his current wage what is believed to be around £150,000 per week.
