As per numerous reports, Chelsea are now planning to buy back Eden Hazard’s brother Thorgan Hazard. The Belgian left Chelsea for Borussia Monchengladbach in 2015 after a successful loan spell and was one of the victims of Chelsea’s mindless loan policy. Their buying back policy is equally mindless, though considering the fact that they have sold Matic and Luiz in the past only to change their mind later and re-sign them, forking massive money in the process.
Hazard failed to prove himself to be Chelsea material earlier despite being 3 years with the club when they decided to offload him. He has, however, been a completely changed player since moving to Germany scoring 18 goals and bagging 20 assists in 89 appearances for Gladbach.
According to Express, Chelsea have even approached the Bundesliga side as they look to bring him back to Stamford Bridge in January. The Blues reportedly have a buy-back clause thought to be worth between £16-£18m. Money has never been a concerning factor for the Blues, which actually alleviate their futile transfers.
Conte had to buy back David Luiz of 30 million pounds in a panic this summer and they can easily pay Hazard’s buyout clause. The problem is that the 23-year-old is reportedly not interested in returning to the west London outfit. Of course, who would?
It seems Antonio Conte is trying to right every wrong decision Chelsea have made in the past few years. At 174 cm, Thorgan Hazard might not be a physically suited player for the Premier League but it is the technique that got Conte’s attention. Thorgan is brilliant in dribbling past opponents, taking set pieces and providing crucial through passes in the attacking third while playing on the break.
Mainly an attacking cum wide player, the deal seems like another futile transfer for Chelsea as the Blues have the likes of Pedro, Willian, Eden Hazard, Oscar and Fabregas already in the squad. After Conte’s shift to 3-man defence, Chelsea’s attack has been largely shouldered on Hazard and Pedro with Moses playing as the wing back. A place for Thorgan hazard is highly unlikely.
Thorgan had arrived at Chelsea with his older brother Eden, who is enjoying a fine start to the new campaign, having scored five Premier League goals for Chelsea and creating another to help the Blues stay within one point of league leaders Manchester City.
While Eden had cemented a place in the team, Thorgan took a bit more time. Chelsea have finally found stability this season in the team after some disastrous results at the beginning of the campaign but it’s unlikely Thorgan could play a part if signed in the near future.
