If rumours are to be believed Chelsea have submitted an opening bid for Fiorentina midfielder Milan Badelj.
The Croatian midfielder’s contract is due to expire in 2018 but the midfielder’s representatives have made it clear that the player will not sign a new contract and will leave the club either in January or at the end of this season.
Chelsea reportedly tabled a bid of around €12 million and the Italian club seems happy with the offer. Although a host of clubs including Atletico Madrid have expressed their interest in the midfielder, Chelsea are the front runners to land the defender.
Cesc Fabregas and John Obi Mikel could leave the club and the 27-year old midfielder could be a great addition to The Blues. Badelj could be paired up with N’Golo Kanté in the middle of the park as his ball holding ability and his knack of shooting from distance could prove to be vital in their challenge for the title.
