Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso claimed that Chelsea have an added advantage over Tottenham Hotspur whom they will be facing on Saturday.
Tottenham Hotspur are playing Monaco on 23rd November in the UEFA Champions League in a must win match. Chelsea are not participating in Europe this season as they finished 10th in the Premier League table last season and the Spaniard thinks this will help them a lot as they have a full week to prepare for the match.
The 25-year-old who was signed from Fiorentina said,
“In three days you can recover, very well, but maybe it can be an advantage for us.
“We have to think, game by game, and now we have Tottenham at home. It is going to be a massive three points for us and we have to rest now and then start getting ready for Saturday.
“Lots of people [say how big this game is], more than the players – it is the fans, [who tell me].”
Chelsea will go into the game having won their last six games while Spurs are the only unbeaten side in the Premier League.
The defender further added,
“I know they always remind me that this London derby is special and hopefully we can get the three points on Saturday.
“I don’t like statistics [about unbeaten runs], but hopefully we can keep winning at home against them.”
