Rangers leapfrogged ahead of Hearts, Aberdeen and St. Johnstone to second place in the Premiership with a brilliant 3-0 win against Kilmarnock last weekend. Mark Warburton made a number of changes to his starting XI and it worked well as the Gers looked very bright against Killie. The Gers will travel to Global Energy Stadium on Sunday to take on lowly-placed Ross County.
Rangers are right now nine points behind league leaders Celtic who also have a game in hand. The Hoops are clearly in the driver’s seat for the title and Rangers must win their game to keep the pressure on their local rivals.
They made their comeback to the Premiership this season after a four-year absence from the first tier and perhaps we expected too much from them when we touted them as potential title challengers.
Ross County are struggling this season and are winless in their last six games. On paper, it looks like an easy ride for the Gers. But Rangers have not been consistent at all this season and need to gain momentum. Here is the predicted Rangers lineup against Ross County.
Defence
Wes Foderingham should keep his place under the bar with ease ahead of veteran Matt Gilks.
Even though Lee Hodson did a good job when he was given the opportunity, James Tavernier remains the first-choice at right-back mainly because of his excellent attacking forays from the right flank. Tavernier is expected to keep his place at right-back.
Rob Kiernan and Clint Hill should keep their places at the heart of the defence with Danny Wilson being a doubt for the game. Skipper Lee Wallace will keep his place at left-back after his excellent showing against Kilmarnock last week.
